“The Grand Dame of The Russian Piano School.” – The Straits Times
ELISO VIRSALADZE
Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Eliso Virsaladze embodies the rich heritage of her Georgian roots and the great Russian piano tradition. A student of the legendary pianist and pedagogue Heinrich Neuhaus, she rose to international prominence after winning Third Prize at the II International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow in 1962.
A revered professor at the Moscow Conservatory and the Munich Musikhochschule, Virsaladze has mentored generations of pianists who now enjoy distinguished international careers. Now in her eighties, she is celebrated for her profound, intellectually rigorous, and deeply expressive artistry, which continues to inspire audiences and musicians alike.
ABOUT THE RECITAL
TRAVERSAL OF CHOPIN – Life of Chivalric Spirit & Divine Miracle
This moment is unique: the convergence of a lifetime’s artistry, a sublime instrument, and transcendent music. At 83, Eliso Virsaladze plays with distilled wisdom and truth-telling intensity, having long transcended virtuosity for deeper meaning. Through the voice of the C. Bechstein D282, she channels Chopin’s soul—transforming sound into a profound encounter with life, chivalric spirit, and divine miracle. This is not merely a recital; it is sonic sanctity, fleeting yet eternal.
